Bonding Stability of a Novel Nano-Zirconia and Commercial Veneering Ceramics

Nano-zirconia is commonly used in dentistry as a framework material over which feldspathic porcelain layered to form an aesthetic and strong bi-layered restoration. Sufficient bonding strength between zirconia frameworks veneering porcelains crucial for the longevity of zirconia-based dental restorations. This study aims determine shear bond (SBS) colloidal-processed slip-casted novel nano-zirconia (NZ) ceramics, namely Cercon® Ceram Kiss (CK), VITA VM®9 (VM9), IPS e.max® (e. max). Twenty-four cylindrical samples each NZ CZ were prepared veneered with ceramics. Six groups core–veneer assemblies, are denoted NZ-CK, NZ-VM9, NZ-e. max, CZ-CK, CZ-VM9, CZ-e. testing using universal machine. Results test showed that NZ-VM9 recorded highest value 149.48 MPa, whereas e. max lowest SBS 71.56 MPa. A similar trend was also observed groups, mean (123.38 MPa) when bonded VM9 (CZ-VM9), while (44.07 registered by groups. Scanning electron micrographs revealed high values mostly displayed cohesive failure. By contrast, mixed-mode adhesive failures low The performance based on property analysis.
